Expanding Air Sensor Monitoring and Education

The City of Edgewater has partnered with Jefferson County Public Health to give local communities the ability to monitor and address their own air quality. Edgewater hosts three (3) of ten (10) high quality air monitors that provide real-time, particulate matter (PM2.5) measurements on easy-to-understand, public facing dashboards.

See the Love My Air Regional Dashboard.

The Love My Air regional dashboard provides individual dashboards unique to each site and provides rolling, 30-minute PM2.5  averages with associated risk level and health behavior recommendations. Behavior recommendations range from Good: It's a great day to be active outside, to Hazardous: People with heart or lung disease, older adults, and children should avoid all physical activity outdoorsEveryone else should avoid prolonged or heavy exertion.  The dashboards reflect air quality changes throughout an individual day.

In addition to improving air quality monitoring, the Love My Air Program incorporates components that address other climate change issues. Solar power runs the air quality sensors, battery storage, and data connectivity. In the coming years, the Love My Air Program will include community education and advocacy campaigns and pollution reduction initiatives.
